Maybe new materials that could be more manipulative, to optimize the electronics. Nano-tech and bio-tech. Transportation and new energy sources.

Computers changed the world, I think something that would really change the world would be something related to Project Oxygen, the one being done by MIT.

Though I also feel something that would merge green engineering and welfare and wealth… plus human entertainment, all packed into one.

Social networks and virtual worlds are changing the way people interact on the Internet. Maybe it is not a sudden change, however, today many people interact and use these virtual resources.

“We are virtual beings”…
We can make friends via the web, shop, watch our favorite tv-shows, complete surveys, study… we do a lot of things, but… recently, we started to do all this in a more “real” way.

For example, in Second Life, people socialize, share their works in galleries, attend to events and buy new clothes and accessories in order of look “better”. Also, virtual people works to raise money (or points) and upgrade level … Without doubt this lifestyle or virtual-lifestyle is changing the way that persons use the web.

I recommend to read the article of “virtual worlds” in the IEEE Computer Magazine September issue.

I think, nano technology is going to do much in this regard……

plus if we have asynchronous processors, we are really going to rock the world….
In hand technology, do whatever u want to do, limits will become unlimited…..
then, i think, discoveries wont change much, but enginuity……
